Madrid. I was in Madrid for 4 days.
One day was spent recovering and resting from the trip to Madrid... from Barcelona, it was an 8 hour bus ride. Sounds crazy but budget-friendly. ;)
Madrid all-around was very classic and conservative.. right down to the people, buildings, and overall atmosphere.
And the way the MadrileƱos speak their language is absolute music to the ears.
Spanish in its purest sounding form and tone.
I stayed with a friend of a friend in this amazing 6-bedroom flat. And not only that, I got to practice and flex my Spanish-speaking muscle.
Although, Madrid was nice, it didn't really leave me yearning for more. None of the typical "sightseeing" things were that appealing to me. That being said, I did have more practice in perfecting the art of a Spanish siesta that I could ever ask for.
Muy importante!
I personally think siestas are probably the smartest idea ever conceived. I mean, starting your day around 10a, taking a siesta around 2 till about 5, and then "finishing" the rest of your day.
Ingenious!
You feel like a whole new person.. I am MORE than determined to bring it back to the States.
